The tour starts at the Torres de Serrano, one of the impressive gateways to the medieval city. From here we’ll continue past the Basilica of the Verge dels Desamparats as we head for Valencia’s magnificent Cathedral. Look out for the Micalet belfry, once a minaret for an Islamic mosque. Pause to admire the Gothic Silk Exchange building, which is a Unesco World Heritage Site. From here we’ll venture inside the modernist Central Market, one of the largest in Europe. The range and quality of the produce on sale here is simply mind-boggling. We’ll take a break here so you can sample two local specialities, orxata, a refreshing milky drink of Arabic origin, and fartons, typical pastry fingers from the nearby town of Alboraya.
